Microchipping your pet is the most effective method to ensure their return if they get lost. Should an animal control officer find your pet and it's microchipped, they will frequently bring it directly to your home at no charge. If you happen to find a lost pet, you can have it scanned for a microchip at the majority of veterinary clinics and pet stores; just remember to call ahead to confirm. Or see our offer below.

Lost Pets of Omaha Area has established a growing network of volunteers equipped with microchip scanners. Should you come across a lost pet, contact us through our Facebook page. We'll check for an available volunteer in your vicinity (note that many work during the day). Our volunteer will then visit to scan the pet and provide you with the owner's details, facilitating the reunion with their beloved animal. Our volunteers will need your address and phone number so they can let you know they are on their way. All of our volunteers will have Lost Pets of Omaha Area business cards.

Update Your Microchip Information!

The excitement is palpable among our volunteers when they scan a stray pet and discover a chip, as it often means the pet will be reunited with its owner soon. However, it's disheartening to find out that the chip was never registered after calling the chip company. Even when they do provide information, it's frustrating if it turns out to be outdated and the phone number is no longer in service. We urge you to ensure your pet's chip is registered. If you're uncertain, please reach out to us. We're more than willing to send someone to scan and confirm the registration.
